Profile
Brian Mujuni completed his MS in Immunology & Clinical Microbiology at Makerere University.
He then did fellowship training in viral diagnostics at Dr. Leslies Lobel’s Laboratory, Beer Sheva
at Ben Gurion University, Israel where he obtained extensive skills in development of low-cost
Point of care diagnostics for infectious disease pathogens.
Brian Mujuni is the Project Coordinator for the World Bank Multi-million-dollar funded Africa Center of Excellence in Materials, Product Development and Nanotechnology at Makerere University. He participated in the conceptualization of the Center of Excellence in Materials, Product Development and Nanotechnology (http://www.mapronano.mak.ac.ug). In this role, he played a pivotal role in assembling a team of experts from industry, regional and international institutions such as CSIIR IITR (India), Italian Institute of Technology, UIC Micro/ Nanoscale Lab MIE, USA Prime Business LLC Florida. He has also been at the forefront of spearheading Nanotechnology initiatives inUganda.
Based on this work, he was invited as a guest editor for VTC Journal, a high impact trade journal in the United States. He has won numerous research grants and awards and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international and national conferences. Brian has also contributed to a number of Bio-entrepreneurships efforts including being a director and associate researcher for a diagnostic spinoff company, CDogma Life sciences, and research associate, IVera Nano, Israel that are aimed at spearheading development of low-cost point-of-care diagnostics in Uganda in collaboration with MIT and USA ARMY. He is currently initiated a think tank Accelerator Platform that is aimed at spearheading product development & commercialization of research spin offs in partnership with MIT faculty/researchers.
